Top 5 Worst Villains in Anime I Watched in 2014
Warning: The following list may contain spoilers. If you wish not to know some events in the story, or simply don't wish to find out what happens in the series, please leave the page, since I don't want to damage a watching experience for you.
Also, keep in mind that the pictures I use in special posts are chosen at random. The Dazzlings were AMAZING villains, and are just sitting down for my worst picks.
This is also a list of villains in show that I've watched, and is not a list of the worst villains in anime ever.
So let's get started:
One of the things that I like when I read books or watch anime is how they will treat the villians. In some anime, the villains are given amazing development and have unique qualities that make them interesting. However, over the years, I have noticed a barrage of stereotypical villains. Ones who don't get development, are just douchebags for the sake of being douchebags, or are too stuck in Cliche City (AKA have no interesting personality traits, and are just a cliched stereotype to the villains you can't help but hate) they just aren't that interesting.
This would have been a top 10 list, but I didn't find any more villains to put on this list. Some were average, but they escaped the list due to having at least something unique, or the creators actually trying there best. to develop them, not always to best efforts.
We will be progressing from the bottom of the list first, until we hit 1.
Are we ready?
I do find Otohiko an interesting character, But his main problem lies in his development. he'll pop up in some episodes, but he really only gets focus near the end, which is kind of a shame. He kind of reminds me of Grell in a way.

Otohiko from Kamisama Kiss.
I think some of you may be a bit surprised. I've already been praising this how to death in my review from it. And overall, I enjoyed the characters. Though, Otohiko is my least favorite.
Otohiko is introduced to the story as a traveling partner of Mikage, and is very effeminate. At first, he disapproves of Nanami being the new land god, and puts a miasma around the shrine in Episode 12. After she tries multiple time to get rid of it, she fails, and after looking back on the events of the series, decides she's not needed anymore. She then runs off, using the tailsman to hide her presence. After thinking for a bit and sitting on a bench, she then realizes that the Mikage shrine in her home, and returns to help defeat the miasma. Otohiko is impressed, and therefore decides to actually acknowledge her as the land god.
I think you can spot my main problem I have with Otohiko: development.
I do find Otohiko an interesting character, But his main problem lies in his development. he'll pop up in some episodes, but he really only gets focus near the end, which is kind of a shame. He kind of reminds me of Grell in a way.
I didn't think it was as bad as Akura-Oh, who barely got development in the first season, and is our main villain. Maybe when the second season rolls along, we'll get development for both?

Barlon Kelvin from Black Butler: Book Of Circus.
I don't think Barlon got any bad development. From the episodes he was in as well as the manga, he got some damn good back-story about why he is obsessed with children and why he looks like a half-mummy.
However, the main problem I have with him is his reasoning behind his surgery, as well as a bit of Cliche City.
Barlon first becomes obsessed with children after first seeing Ciel for the first time at one of his parties. Since then, he has become so obsessed with the Phantomhives that he even got the surgery just to appeal more to Ciel. But after hearing the news to his death, he becomes devastated. Though you know his reaction when he finds out that he's alive, though he can't see him.
*sighs* This guy's mine is so twisted and deformed, it's scary.
He uses the Noah's Ark Circus, and asks his performers to kidnap the children by preforming illusions for them, and getting rid of evidence. Like I mentioned in my review for the third season, none of them enjoy doing this at all, but have to, because Kelvin says that there friends back on the workshop will be looked after.
Turns out, Kelvin lied about that. In fact, he gets overjoyed when the brainwashed children die in gruesome stunts during a show that they preform.

The cliches that Kelvin has is very minimal. He's kind of an asshole as he lied to his best children from the orphanage, he doesn't really have any real personality besides happy, yet creepy psychopath. and he goes really far in wanting to see Ciel again. He even re-creates the torture room, just so Ciel can torture him.
Ash and Angela were anime only characters, and yet they were better villains than Kelvin. At least he isn't as bad as others on this list.

Tatsuo Toue from DRAMAtical Murder.
And possibly another surprise. I liked pretty much all of the main characters in DRAMAtical Murder (NOIZ <3<3) But some of the side characters just weren't my cup of tea. Toue is sadly one of them, and our main villain of the anime.
Toue is the founder of Platinum Jail, While he is hailed as a god in the Platinum Jail world, he is despised by the residents of the Old Residential District. On the outside, he seems like a calm persom, has a lot of ideas, and is dead-set on the potential for world peace. His actual personality though resolves around using Platinum Jail to mind-control more people, With this, he plans to take over the island of Midorijima, and eventually, like a lot of villains, take over the world.
I'm so sorry Cliche City. I didn't know that you infected your next victim.
I might have been expecting a bit more, but Toue was really a disappointment. He's just too stereotypical, his powers are pretty much implants, and the world domination cliche has been over-used to death. Look, this isn't creative. It gets SUPER annoying as it's been beaten to the ground lord knows how many times.
If you're asking me why I didn't find Virus and Trip worse, it's probably because they actually have some depth to them. Yeah they're assholes, but it's better than nothing. What we get from Toue is just nothing new.
Also, he sucks at Rhyme too, but who's surprised?
These next 2 villains are not only bad, but they infuriated me to no end.
Restia Ashdoll from Bladedance of the Elementalers.
Oh lookie here. She made my worst list. But who's surprised at this point?
To be fair, I'm not going to break out into a rant like in my review. You know, because there's scorn enough for this character alone.
Besides, there's more for my number 1 slot.
Restia was Kamito's first contacted spirit who got Kamito out of the Institutional School. She taught him everything he needed to know, After being sealed, Greyworth finds Kamito, and with Restia, he enters the Bladedance with her. he ends up winning, but a wish causes her to be sent away.
It is revealed in hints that Kamito is the next successor to the Demon King, mainly told by Restia to herself when she's alone.
What does she do in the show? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!
Yeah. really. Besides conjuring spirits, and helping Jio by turning into a sword for him in Episode 8, she literally does nothing in her unexplained plans. Her normal appearances just have her show up, Kamito getting star-struck, her summoning a monster, and then leaving. That is all that she does. Jio and that fortune girl do way more than Restia ever did in this series.
I think Restia could have made a bit more decent character, had the producers of the anime actually tried. Maybe she has better development in the light novels, I wouldn't know. Untill then, Restia just is pretty much good for nothing, expect if you love villains who can't do jack s**t.
Speaking of villains who can't do jack s**t, it's time to unveil our top villain.
Normally, I would have some dishonorable mentions, but there aren't enough bad villains for me to hate on this year. They all have some better qualites than the villains on this list, or are most average.

Laxus Dreyar from Fairy Tail.
Ugh guys, just ugh.
I admit, I haven't seen a lot of Fairy Tail. I have a friend who's deathly obsessed with it, and is farther in the manga than in watching the series. The only full arc I've watched is the Tower Of Heaven arc, which was very entertaining, though Bleach's Soul Society Arc is kick-ass so far. The fact is Laxus barely holds a candle to Jellal.
Jellal has deep layers to him. Jellal has three different forms (or personas). Jellal can actually kick ass. And the next villain we get, we get........ THIS?
First thing, Laxus has been holding a grudge on the master of the Fairy Tail guild, who is actually his grandfather, for kicking out his father. Lord knows how long this grudge has been going on, but it's prety long term.
When Laxus is first introduced, he is introduced as a S class mage who is just a one-dimensional douchebag. Further more, this ia alll that he is in the first season. Until, we have the heart of gold cliche that Fairy Tail is known to over-use. *gags*
After Team Natsu returns to Fairy Tail, Laxus decides to act on his plan. You know, becuase we need to go into the next arc now. What is his plan? Well, it goes like this.
He, along with his team Thunder Leigon, cast a spell on the city of Magnolia. Laxus sets up lighting balls that can't be destructed. If you try, you will be hit back with the same force as the attack. Freed activates his runes, which forces the guildmates to fight one another. Laxus waits at a palace, waiting for the victors. Whoever wins each battle will come back to the guild, with Laxus as their new master.
So Laxus is power-hungry. That doesn't sound stereotypical at all. Oh wait, NEWS FLASH! IT F**KING DOES!
After his three teammates get defeated, and the whole game goes to hell, Natsu arrives and starts fending off Laxus. since every shoenen anime has to have the main guy do every defeating anyway. When the battle starts turning in Natsu's favor, Laxus decides to use Fairy Law. If you don't know what that is, Fairy Law is basically a spell that can obliterate certain people in a area of your choice if you freaking despise them,
Episode 47 ends on a cliffhanger, and it's meant to be shocking. You don't know if it's going to work or not (COUGHCOUGH), and you think our heroes are dead.
Episode 48 starts, NOPE! IT DIDN'T WORK! (lolofcourseitdidn'tworkobvi)
And you may be asking why.
The truth is that Laxus actually doesn't harbor a lot of hate for anyone. In fact, he actually loves his guild mates. That's why the spell didn't work.

And here's one of my problems of Fairy Tail. The power of friendship seems to solve everything. So what, we're in Pretty Cure now? I don't think they wham it into your head that much. But in Fairy Tail, friendship saves the day. Natsu saves the day. Everyone is happy and farting out rainbows. This happens EVERY SINGLE TIME A VILLAIN IS DEFEATED! Well, from what I've seen.
After Natsu's vest comes off and the screams start coming on, it's time to fight. Laxus unleashes his Lightning Dragon Slayer magic. (itdidn'tcomefromadragonsoit'snotgeneration1obvi) Natsu then defeats Laxus after Laxus uses his strongest attack at Natsu, which is then difused by Gajeel's Metal Rod. The fight ends with Natsu roaring a triumphant roar. ROAR!
Sorry. Total Drama reference.
After this, Laxus is expelled from Fairy Tail, and is set off to find his way. Well, that didn't take long. Because during the Tenrou Island arc, Laxus returns to help fight off Hades. And what does the guild do? They welcome him back with open arms.
Why?
Becuase he has a good heart. and we can forgive him for The Battle Of Fairy Tail. In fact, we can forget that ever happened.

Laxus is not only the worst Fairy Tail villain thus far, he is also one of the worst villains in anime that I've ever seen. He has all of the clasic tropes, ranging from being a complete d**k, to having a heart of gold at the end.
Look, I get it. Shonen anime can have some weak villains, and that's fine. But it's really sad that your own teammates have way more personality than you ever will. And guess what, none of them are stereotypical AT ALL.
One more thing before we go. Laxus, though you have gotten back that "good boy" personality, this is still what I think of you:
